Lions Introduce New Football Coaching Staff

Hyannis, MA (5/3/22) –St. John Paul II School has named Nick Christian its new Football Head Coach, effective immediately. Christian will be joined by assistant coaches Chris Barabe and Michael Harris. 

“I am beyond honored and excited to be named Head Coach of St. John Paul II Football. I look forward to re-establishing the culture and tradition of the program,” said Christian.

A Dennis-Yarmouth graduate, Christian’s coaching experience includes four years as a student manager of the University of New Mexico football team, and locally as an assistant coach at Monomoy High School and St. John Paul II, where he was most recently the defensive coordinator.

“I am very excited about Coach Christian taking over the JPII football program; his passion for the sport, the team, and the JPII community is clear,” said Athletic Director Rich Fazzi.

Chris Barabe has coached youth and high school football for Dennis-Yarmouth, Monomoy, and Barnstable; he is returning to St. John Paul II, where he served previously as an assistant coach under Head Coach John Muldoon. Michael Harris (‘06 SFXP) is a recent graduate of St. Lawrence University, where he played linebacker; he spent last year as an assistant coach at Mashpee High School. 

“I’m thrilled to welcome a new chapter in our football program that builds on a foundation of sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork,” stated Principal Mona Lisa Valentino. 

Hyannis’ St. John Paul II School provides high-quality, Catholic education to students in grades 5-12. The school competes in the Cape & Islands League.
