St. John Paul II School Announces Jennifer Hollis as Head Athletic Trainer
(Hyannis-7/17/24) St. John Paul II School is excited to announce the appointment of Jennifer Hollis as the school’s new head athletic trainer. Jennifer Hollis replaces Greg Folino, who retired after ten years in the position.
Hollis brings experience at both the collegiate, high school and private practice levels to JPII. During her time at Colby Sawyer College, Hollis worked at the NCAA Division 1 level at Dartmouth College, assigned to rugby, and at the NCAA Division 2 level, covering men’s and women’s ice hockey and football. At the high school level, Hollis has worked at Bishop Guertin High School, Bishop Brady High School, and St. Paul’s School, all in New Hampshire.
After graduation, Hollis worked at Nauset Regional High School under Michel Pavlu, covering all their fall sports. In addition, Hollis was an exercise technician at Professional Physical Therapy in Harwich, MA.
In these roles, Hollis has gained immense experience in creating rehabilitation and return-to-play plans for student-athletes, using therapeutic modalities including (but not limited to) ultrasounds, E-stim, cupping, Hivamat and Graston, conducting pre-participation screenings and athletic assessments, and facilitating Impact Testing, SCAT-5 and BESS testing.
Hollis also holds professional membership in three athletic training associations: the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts, and Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association.
“When the opportunity presented itself to be part of the JPII family, I knew it would be a perfect fit. The small school size, tight-knit community, and encouraging faculty and staff made me feel right at home. Athletic trainers play such a vital role in schools and sports, and being able to give back to the community that gave so much to me while growing up on Cape Cod, makes me beyond grateful to be here at JPII. I am excited to grow and learn in my new roles as head athletic trainer and assistant athletic director and am looking forward to connecting with everyone throughout the school year!” – Jennifer Hollis.
In addition to her role as the head athletic trainer, Hollis will serve as the assistant athletic director at St. John Paul II School. Hollis currently resides in Dennis, MA, and will officially begin at St. John Paul II School for the fall athletic season.
“Jen is going to be a great addition to the athletics at JPII. Jen is incredibly experienced in athletic training, takes her role very seriously, and is someone that I am very excited to have working with our student-athletes and our teams. Her ability to connect with student-athletes, knowledge of athletics, and her skillset in athletic training are going to be an invaluable asset to our school.” – Michael Young, Athletic Director.
