The St. John Paul II golf team has enjoyed a good run of success since its inception as one of the first sports established at the school in 2009.
Under coach Geoff Converse, who is in his eighth year heading up the program, the Lions are setting their sights on another trip to the sectional tournament at the end of the season.
“We’ve been a varsity program for seven years and we’ve made the sectionals every year but one,” said Converse. “The kids know it’s one of our goals every year. It doesn’t always come true, but they work at it.”
Mixing some experienced golfers with youthful contributors, Converse has been impressed with the progress of his team despite some early season problems with the weather that threw a glitch into the schedule.
