St. John Paul II High School (JPII) has received a major gift for student scholarships from the Flatley Foundation in Braintree, MA. The foundation grant will augment the Keeping the Faith Fund initiative, JPII’s emergency relief program for COVID-affected families. In spring 2020, the school made the extraordinary commitment to retain 100% of its students despite the current, short-term economic hardship and has since provided nearly $300,000 in aid.
“Everyone has been impacted by COVID-19 in one way, shape, or form. This is especially true for Cape Cod families, many of whom required financial assistance for the first time. This generous gift from the Flatley Foundation helps students stay in their Catholic school, despite economic uncertainty. Stability and strong relationships are critical for young adults’ development, especially in tough times. As the pandemic continues, the school anticipates the need for emergency scholarships will continue into the next academic year. We are very grateful to the Flatley Foundation, and the other generous donors, that are making sure no one has to leave school due to financial hardship,” said Christopher Keavy, JPII President.
