Most fathers would be thrilled to see a historic moment like a son scoring his 1,000th career point on the basketball court.
Then again, Dave Harrison is not your typical father of an athlete.
“I’m not really into that, to be honest with you,” said Harrison, the coach of the St. John Paul II boys basketball team and father of the school’s only 1,000-point scorer, his son Devan. “The individual stuff is nice, and it’s big for kids getting that, but I don’t think that’s why you play team sports.”
Last Friday night, Devan became the first and only 1,000-point scorer in St. John Paul II basketball history in a game against Sturgis West.
