On Friday, October 4, our Grades 5-8 students participated in a Dress Down Day to raise funds for those affected by recent hurricanes. For a voluntary donation, students could wear casual clothing instead of their uniforms. Thanks to the overwhelming support from students and their families, this student council-led initiative raised $1,225 for hurricane relief, which was distributed among three organizations.
The student council, alongside faculty, initially aimed to donate both cash and material goods to Coast Guard members at Joint Base Cape Cod. These service members were collecting supplies from various bases to transport south during their time off. Upon delivering the cash and items, we received heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you so much for your help. The Senior Chief at the air station was thrilled, and we’re all grateful. Your school’s cash donation will be used to fill gas cans for trucks navigating remote and damaged areas in the Appalachians, where gas stations may be limited. Any remaining funds will go to those in need.”
Due to the incredible generosity shown, additional donations were also made to Samaritan’s Purse and the American Red Cross for hurricane relief. The students decided to distribute the funds among multiple organizations to maximize their impact and assist as many people as possible.
