NOW THAT THE SCHOOL YEAR IS OFF TO A SUCCESSFUL START
AND EVERYONE HAS SETTLED INTO A ROUTINE,
CAMPUS MINISTRY WILL BEGIN TO OFFER
FOUR X BLOCKS ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS.
Souper Scripture
Souper Scripture takes place on Day 4. It is offered during both X Blocks. It is an opportunity for students to gather in Campus Ministry for lunch, to enjoy socializing with other students and to reflect on the scriptures of the day. They can bring their own lunch or enjoy the soup provided. It is an informal atmosphere in which students can share their reflections on the scripture and enjoy some casual conversation. Souper Scripture is open to all students.
Soul Sistas and Brotherhood
Soul Sistas and Brotherhood are female and male spirituality groups which meet 2X on day 5. Groups of young men and young women gather separately to share casual conversation on topics of faith. Both groups offer students the opportunity to come together in faith with peers that they may not interact with often for whatever reason and provide the young men and women of the school community an environment to be and embrace who they are as beloved sons and daughters of God. Through fellowship, affirmation, fun activities, and engaging conversation, the retreat leaders and Campus Ministers encourage faith sharing in its many forms within these groups. Discussions range from living a life authentic to that which God has called us, to reflections on the lives of the saints and the relevance of their stories in our lives today. With fun activities and engaging conversation the retreat leaders and Campus Ministers encourage faith sharing within these groups. Soul Sistas meet in Campus Ministry and Brotherhood in Room 101.
Global Citizens
Global Citizens is a new group forming in Campus Ministry. The brainchild of a group of students the group hopes to make students more aware of social justice issues in the world today. Their goals are to:
- inform and engage students in the rights, responsibilities and duties that come with being a member of the global community
- participate in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy
- encourage students to be leaders in a Gospel response to global issues
- create opportunities for students to take action against injustice
- collaborate with charities and organizations which will help the students exchange ideas about culture and lifestyles but also allow them to gain experience in volunteering a/o working with foundations
- communicate Christ to the world through our actions
This group will meet in Campus Ministry during X block. Day and time will be announced.
Students for Life
At the request of students, we have formed a chapter of Students for Life on our campus. With connections to, and support from the national Students for Life organization, our local Students for Life group will provide students with activities, service opportunities and education regarding issues related to our call to protect life from conception to natural death. Activities will include involvement with A Baby Center in Hyannis and attending the annual March for Life in Washington, DC. Students for Life is open to all students. Meeting times will vary depending upon activities and student availability.
