This year, the school is working hard on a comprehensive review process leading to our decennial re-accreditation by other New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC). Survey responses, student narrative assessments from the Leadership Studies program, the Advisory Board contributions, and the efforts of faculty and staff members are important parts of this process. It is a best practice that schools re-evaluate their mission statements in the early stages of their self-study. We have done so and now share the results of the Mission Statement Review Committee, below:
The Mission Statement of St. John Paul II School (approved 2/7/2022)
St. John Paul II School is a Cape Cod Catholic school that welcomes students and families from diverse faiths and backgrounds who desire a college preparatory, Catholic education. The school’s academic, artistic, athletic, and co-curricular programs cultivate strong relationships and empower students to recognize their gifts, develop their potential, and communicate Christ in word and deed. Emulating their patron St. John Paul II, students pursue truth through faith and reason, preparing them to lead lives of continuous learning, respect, and community leadership.
In September, the school convened the committee representing each stakeholder group – faculty and staff members, students, parents, and Advisory Board members. This committee, chaired by Advisory Board member Betsy O’Brien, collected and reviewed feedback from each stakeholder group as to the essential elements of the JPII Mission Statement. From these elements, the committee drafted multiple statements for consideration. The committee then arrived at a final recommendation that was approved on February 7.
