St. John Paul II School Announces Bobby Scott as School’s First Strength & Conditioning Coach
(Hyannis-8/8/24) St. John Paul II School is excited to announce the hiring of Bobby Scott as the school’s first strength and conditioning coach. Scott is a Barnstable, MA native who has a solid background in strength and conditioning.
After high school, Scott was given the opportunity to play college baseball at both the NCAA Division 1 & 2 level, first at Stetson University in DeLand, FL, and then at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL. This is where Scott ultimately developed a passion for the weight room and the strength and conditioning field.
Scott’s first job as a strength and conditioning coach after college was in Hilton Head, SC working for the International Junior Golf Academy. Here, Scott designed programs for and trained over two hundred elite junior golfers from all around the world.
From his first job in South Carolina, Scott had multiple stops before opening his own facility in 2017, OPEX South Shore, in Pembroke, MA, as well as owning Sustain Strength Cape Cod out of Sandwich, MA. Through these strength and conditioning roles, Scott has coached high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.
“Bringing in Bobby as our school’s first strength and conditioning coach takes a major step forward to ensure we are emphasizing our student-athletes’ physical development and health. When Bobby came in to interview, it was immediately apparent that he was a great fit for this position. His background in athletics, experience training countless athletes, and general disposition make him the perfect person to start this program here at JPII. I couldn’t be more excited to see him work with our student-athletes.” – Michael Young, Athletic Director.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to work with the student-athletes at St. John Paul II School. I want to thank Michael Young and the rest of the staff at JPII who committed to hiring a strength & conditioning coach and saw the benefit in doing so. I am honored to be selected for this role. My goal is to take JPII athletics to the next level with a sound and thoughtful approach to improving strength and conditioning for all teams and individual athletes. In addition to improved performance on the field, there will be a heavy emphasis on creating healthy lifestyle habits outside the gym. Specializing in designing programs for individuals and teams as my career is something that I am passionate about. As a former athlete, being able to now do this in an environment like JPII is very exciting to me. I look forward to a great year ahead and being part of the growth and success of JPII athletics!” Bobby Scott, Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Bobby Scott currently resides in Barnstable, MA with his wife Chelsa and their two children, Brody and Bryson.
