(Hyannis – 6/13-2023) St. John Paul II School is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Young as Athletic Director. Mike serves as St. John Paul II School’s Head Varsity Baseball Coach and Math teacher. He succeeds Rich Fazzi, who has served as Athletic Director and Head Coach of the Boys Basketball team during his tenure at the school.

It can help students learn to handle both failure and success, how to treat those they are competing against, and how to truly work as a team to achieve a common goal. As a student, Young helped lead the school to its first state championship in school history. After graduating in 2014, Young pitched at Stonehill College, where he was named to the All-Rookie Team in his freshman season and was tabbed NE10 Rookie Pitcher of the Year. Young earned two NE10 All-Conference selections and was named a NEIBA All-Star, representing the DII/DIII New England team in 2019. He returned in 2021 as a coach to JPII.

Coach Young is an excellent role model and has taken on various roles since returning to JPII, including alumni admissions ambassador, senior class moderator, and co-leader of the inaugural young men’s retreat. Mike will attend the Play Like A Champion Today Sports Leadership Conference at the University of Notre Dame in preparation for his new position.
St. John Paul II School serves Cape Cod, Canal region, and South Shore students in Grades 5-12. ###
